doesn't include endless drone murders of brown people, undeclared wars in libya, record deporations, record medical marijuana prosecutions, and pretty much a gigantic expansion of Bush/Cheney surveillance state principles.

The only "reality" anyone cares about here is the status of the near meaningless horse race.

      •  Let me guess, Nader voter in 2000 right? (10+ / 0-)

Do the deaths of hundreds of thousands of brown people, declared wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the ESTABLISHMENT of the Bush/Cheney surveillance state matter to you at all?

Because back in 2000, people like you said the same thing about meaningless horse race blah blah.

When we stop putting leaders from the past up on pedestals and ignoring their flaws, we can start seeing our present leaders for what they really are.

I bet those Iraqi deaths just chewed you up......... except when it was Bill Clinton and Madeleine Albright killing 500,000 children with their sanctions in the 90s.

You were probably fine with that.  Just like you are fine now with Obama's boasting of the most "vicious, crippling" sanctions in history against Iran.

          •  Ok, Nader voter confirmed (6+ / 0-)

I care a lot about people all over the world, which is why I'm working my butt off to get President Obama elected so Mitt Romney doesn't get to invade Iran and kill a few million more.

I'm glad to see that you care enough about all of those brown people that they can all just go die as far as you're concerned, just as long as you get your internet outrage and 4 more years of complaining.

            You should own your vote.

You should own the Iraq war decision.
You should own the establishment of the Bush Cheney surveillance state.
            You should own citizens united.

That's what you voted for in 2000, and you should own that vote.

            You won't, but you should.

When we stop putting leaders from the past up on pedestals and ignoring their flaws, we can start seeing our present leaders for what they really are.

I didn't vote in 2000, but even if I had I sure as hell wouldn't have knowingly voted for any of that.

YOU on the other hand know EXACTLY what you are voting for - drone murders, surveillance state, undeclared war, the list goes on..... and you are no unwitting accomplice.... you CHEER as you do it.

              •  i hope you stay here to help form "a more perfect (0+ / 0-)

                union."

unlike some others, i'm not threatened by your comments, and agree that we need to be more in line with our values when it comes to our foreign policy.  but please realize, this site exists for the purpose of electing and supporting democrats.  so please - respect the purpose of the site as you discuss.

and frankly, just because dems are elected, doesn't mean they can reverse the tide of the "military-industrial complex" on their own.

Hey Mr Trump - so much for the ploy. Oh - and "The Dude" needs his rug back - it really tied the room together.

      •  Historians may not see it as you do. (3+ / 0-)

They may instead offer an assessment of the sorts of achievements Matthews listed and register them as seminal.

'Reality' is a amorphous critter.  One person who sees it describes it one way while the next describes it so differently you'd think one of them is fibbing, or drunk, or a poor historian.

They might both be right, though, and neither fibbing nor loaded, as it's the critter itself that keeps changing.

Matthews offered a strong and in my opinion convincing rationale for support for President Obama.  Some many million U.S. Americans are likely to agree with him.

In any case we'll know by midnight or so tomorrow.
