  •  Yes, but.... (5+ / 0-)

Rove is the loser and his rich donors lost a little as well. But those wealthy guys look at it as a learning experience. They know that the Congress is still tied up in knots and they can handle it. They know that they can prevent any serious damage to their wealth and their power, and they know they can do better next time. Old timers like me can remember when there  was no Heritage Foundation and no AEI. But now the conservative propaganda machine is working very well, otherwise we would not have suffered the way we have since the election of Ronald Reagan. These tyranni play a long game and they have the money to play it. Remember corporations, and their wealth and their power, are immortal.

So, the rich guys will pick better candidates next time. They can take solace in the fact that a terrible candidate like Romney still carried nearly half the popular vote.

Yes, goodness and mercy will eventually triumph, but not next year, maybe not even in Obama's new term. The fight is not yet over. And if Obama does not deliver this time there will be a lot of people who will be disappointed and they may well fall for the lies, the new lies, the better lies, that they will hear in the next presidential campaign.

Our political process is vulnerable and we talk about its weaknesses all the time. We have much work to do.

Might and Right are always fighting, in our youth it seems exciting. Right is always nearly winning, Might can hardly keep from grinning. -- Clarence Day
