    But considering that if Party dogma called upon Republicans  to murder their parents, the average Republican politician would be in a race to clean & load his or her guns, the simple fact he prefers a working government government over ideology makes him smarter than the average Republican.

    As Christie pointed out, that is a sad reflection on the state of the contemporary Republican party. And it will hurt any competent individual who attempts to run as a Republican: it happened last night here in Oregon where Knute Buehler, endorsed by a surprising number of local papers, lost heavily to Kate Brown because he was running as a Republican. Maybe he was the better candidate for Secretary of State, but I suspect that after 8 years of Bush & the other clowns like him no sane person trusts a Republican to do even an adequate & fair job.

      I would trust a Republican legislator, or mayor sooner than I would trust one as Secretary of State. Do the names Husted and Blackwell ring any bells?
