  •  It's a sea change (9+ / 0-)

This is the election that makes the GOP go to war with itself and I can't wait to watch.

The demographics are eroding the GOP. The minority vote is increasing and those angry old white people are decreasing by the year as the die off. The young are less interested in the GOP fear based rhetoric and aren't anti-gay marriage or as against family planning and choice as their conservative parents. They also are interested in drug reform laws so the GOP has to head toward the moderate end to keep them and the Confederacy-led GOP refuses to do so.

On top of that we have elected some incredible new faces that have enormous appeal, from Tammy Baldwin and Elizabeth Warren in the Senate to Joaquin Castro from Texas to Congress. I couldn't be happier, we are expanding while the GOP is contracting on a national level.

The GOP will have a fierce fight.  But I have long thought that the advantage of the Romney nomination is that it gives the Republicans an out.  The more radical part of the GOP will be able to say "If only we had nominated a true conservative instead of a Massachusetts moderate".   The Romney loss will allow them to follow their delusion at least one presidential election longer.

If my analysis above is correct, we could be watching the slow destruction of the Republican party...at least the party as we now know it.
