  •  Dovetails nicely with marriage equality numbers. (6+ / 0-)

Twenty-somethings, by overwhelming majorities, don't give a flying fuck who marries whom. As a group, the youngest voting demographic is also far less religious than their older counterparts. I don't see that trend changing, either.

So the GOP is really caught between a rock and a hard place for the foreseeable future: their base of older rural and southern whites will continue to demand fealty on the "God issues" while the increasing voting majority will be moving in the opposite direction.

And never mind the inane Tea Party pot that Karl Rove and his buddies ginned up to fight health care reform and has now come back to bite them two cycles in a row in Senate races.

Long ago, Karl promised "a permanent Republican majority."

After this election, Karl needs to pull a Mitt and withdraw from politics to "spend some more time with my money."

    See you in the Caymans!

The "wedge" issues of gay marriage and abortion will cease to pay dividends for Republicans.  They'll have to rely on selling their economic platform.

(Ok, typing that with a straight face was harder than I thought.)
