    In some cases people will discover new info online even if their base education is poor, or they live in stifling social circumstances. This is pure random chance of course.

      they can decipher what they find online.  However, there are an awful lot of people who have not learned to think critically.

      That is to say if you're educated it can work to expand your education. But if you believe in dogma it will only reinforce your acceptance of that dogma. True, there are exceptions, but I don't think there are many.

      To me progress is not so much a goal as it is a process and I believe it will not follow a straight course. Remember, the drops of water that form the river may not take the shortest path but they will still reach the ocean.

      There is something about being given the thirst for continued education and learning more and more.  A bad education stifles and ultimately destroys that thirst.  A bad education instills the desire to stay within your own comfortable bubble, because it is a scary world out beyond it.

      A good education is something that cannot be replaced.
