    Because of his 2008 record, he was watched by millions, and especially the political class. That inevitably affected the narrative: Reps felt they had to try to discredit him, while Dems pointed at his numbers to strengthen not only morale, but fundraising.

    That's influence. I don't know whether his intent is to be influential or not, but he certainly hasn't shied from making the rounds of the talk shows.

      It was the combination of Nate's celebrity and his refusal to capitulate to the teahadist media that got their ire.

      They are truly fascists in the rightwing corporate media.  They exist purely for disinformation and any information gleaned from them is so radioactive with rightwing frames and half-facts that it's not surprising they are losing marketshare to fake news like The Daily Show.

      If you resist, question or check their "facts" they have a tendancy to declare you the enemy.
