  •  they think we're stupid (25+ / 0-)

You can see it in their analysis of what went wrong - they think all they need to do is come up with a better message, that they just need to frame things differently, brand things differently, and they'll be able to trick people into voting for them.

They think all they need to do is include a black person, or a woman, in their commercials, and then they should win the votes of that demographic. When they try to imagine what would convince a minority to vote for them, their low estimation of minorities automatically gets in the way. They see such groups of people as not having the full array of human intelligence and skills, as not having the same depth of experience, as they do.  It's incredibly insulting.

    •  Well you have to admit, they have been pretty (5+ / 0-)

successful in packaging a message for working class whites that inspires them to fight for the right to work for less, to lose pensions and health care, to work in unsafe conditions, to breathe dirty air, drink poisoned water, and eat tainted food.  Give credit where credit is due.

Let's just hope other portions of the population are less gullible.

    •  Or at least not change their minds so often. (0+ / 0-)

Moderate Mitt, the Governor of Massachusetts would have won.  Severely Conservative Mitt would probably have won as well -- those disinclined to vote for Obama probably didn't care for the candidate who plagiarized Obama foreign policy during the third debate.

      •  He was never "Moderate" Mitt when he was the (0+ / 0-)

        Governor.

He was always "I'll try to be what I think they want me to be" Mitt.

But you can only do that for so long.  That's why after one term as Governor, he would have had no chance to win a second one.
