  •  Here are a couple of tidbits (0+ / 0-)

1st a quote from, then a link to the Economist. Unfortunately even this mag doesn't know that NO boomer >66!

"This may reflect a “cohort effect”, the notion that a person's lifelong voting habits are established early on. Charlie Cook, a political analyst, says today's retired were shaped by the perceived failure of Jimmy Carter in the late 1970s and the success of Ronald Reagan in the 1980s. In 2008 some may also have identified more with the 72-year-old John McCain than the 47-year-old Mr Obama." This implies a cohort difference as NO boomer was over 62 in 2008.

Link to the article which deals with cohort identity a bit better. Note too that the folks who 1st voted in 72 are the group I am referring to. I.e. the most liberal cohort in US history, closely followed by today's 18-24 year olds. We were soon swamped by our conservative siblings and children of the Silents, which diluted our demographic strength quite a bit.

If... the machine of government... is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then, I say, break the law. ~Henry David Thoreau, On the Duty of Civil Disobediance, 1849
