    •  Yes. And (2+ / 0-)

No matter what ideology a person claims, as that person increasingly disregards reality, their efforts within reality increasingly fail.

So Republicans have reduced their interest in reality to only "winning" (gaming for power).
Republicans have discarded concern for truth and fact in everything else.

As OP read i those articles,  in  these days of conservative "soul-searching", most conservatives still (claim to) think rightwing ideology is righteous, but misunderstood.
A few non-dittohead conservatives merely shift blame to 'those other people's' misjudgement of right wing righteous "truth".
      So, neither are soul-searching.
Both categories of conservatives remain caught in their own muddle, since they're both looking outside of themselves. They aren't "searching" their souls.

Conservatives should focus on the right-wing's abandonment of truth. Decades ago they chose to forego truth in order to "win", so conservatives have forgotten what truth-seeking is. They cannot grasp that disregard for truth is their problem.

      Will conservatives recover?
      1. Either we let 2010 recur, and rightwing "wins" again, pushing them back into their moral vacuum.
      2. Or we maintain/repeat 2008 and 1012, motivating Republicans to recover.

      Then how will they recover?
      1. Mostly by aging out, according to history.
