      And this is in response to "they claimed a mandate because the Dems let them"--partially true, but not completely.

      The big difference is that in 2000, the GOP held the White House and both houses of Congress--and used every procedural trick in the book (including reconciliation, to overcome a Democratic filibuster) to pass the Bush tax cuts.  That is, of course, why they aren't "permanent" today--under reconciliation rules, the tax cuts were required to have a sunset clause.

      Unfortunately, Democrats are not in a position to steamroll the GOP this time around, as the Republicans still control the House.  The time for steamrolling was in 2008, but that pooch was thoroughly screwed.

        continuously forget the gaggle of blue dogs in the senate and in the house in 2008?

        This "you had the majority in all three branches in 2008" is really a RW talking point, and we need to begin answering it with facts.

        They have their RINO's , but  it was DINO's that thwarted  our progress in 2008.
