  •  Many times these last weeks, "better man"... (12+ / 0-)

...was the phrase that kept whacking me in the head.

All kinds of hype leading up to Tuesday, all kinds of spin over every single thing, and I just kept thinking, "Barack Obama is far and away the better man. It just shines through, over and over."

After 2000 and 2004, I was just so disheartened to think that kind of...and yes, I'll use the word...evil...could triumph in this country.

Starting in 2007, when I really started paying attention to this man, I thought, "This is a truly good, kind, decent man. He is rare in politics." To say the least.

Like many, when he was elected, I cried. Talk about watershed events. And over and over again since 2007 I've felt as if I was witnessing a once-in-a-generation, if not lifetime, phenomenon.

Sometimes he's pissed me off, disappointed me, but never once have I felt it was because he has a shred of evil in him, and his job is bigger than anything I can even begin to get my head around.

But since last Tuesday, I just keep thinking that we can talk about ground games and polls and all of it, but as has been suggested, things like Seamus and the kid whose hair Romney cut told everyone all they need to know about who that man was and is. And Mitt Romney can never, ever convince anyone who's serious that he can hold a candle to Barack Obama as a human being.

There have been numerous times I've just wanted to spit at people who hurl their toxic invective at my President, but Barack Obama is a man who makes me want to be a better person than that. For everyone's sake, whether or not they appreciate it, I think we dodged a serious bullet this week, and we got another four years of a good, kind, fair, decent, and brilliant man and leader. Finally. The simple truth is the better man won.
