White person (1964):  Black people shouldn't be allowed to vote.
Black person responds:  White people have a brain disorder.
White person: Quite being so hateful and intolerant.

Straight person:  Gay people shouldn't be allowed to marry.
Gay person responds:  Straight people have a brain disorder.
Straight person: Quite being so hateful and intolerant.

Religous person:  I cannot vote for any atheist.
Athiest responds:  Religious people have a brain disorder.
Religious person: Quite being so hateful and intolerant.

I'm sorry, but your reality simply doesn't fit my economic model.

    •  Your "example" is logically flawed. (0+ / 0-)

      I am a religious person
I have never said I cannot vote for an atheist.
Yet the diarist has said I have a brain disorder.

So we may as well rewrite your example as:

Religous person: Atheists have right to their beliefs
Athiest responds:  Religious people have a brain disorder.
Religious person: Quite(sic) being so hateful and intolerant.

Actually you have pinpointed the exact problem with the diary. It makes broad generalization of diverse groups of people and characterizes them as brain damaged. It insults and demeans those people not based on what they individually have done but based on their identity with a group.

      That is bigotry.

    •  I would also point out that your first example (0+ / 0-)

was something expressly rejected by people like the REVEREND Martin Luther King. Dr. King denounced trading one set of in hate, tolerance and prejudice for another. As did Mahatma Gandhi before him. But then again what did they know. They were just intolerant brain damaged religious idiots. Right?
