  •  Brown is still very popular in this state (4+ / 0-)

Without the incredible GOTV effort of Elizabeth Warren's campaign (which raised something like $40 million dollars) and the agreement to keep third party PACs off the airwaves (which Scottie will never agree to again), not to mention Obama's popularity, Brown would probably have beaten Warren.

He'd have a huge heads up on anybody else in a short campaign.  And frankly there's no Democrat here in MA who is ready to step up to run for the Senate.

    •  Uh no Brown is not that popular. He won in the (0+ / 0-)

first place BECAUSE Martha Coakley sucked. Against any strong democrat, Scott Brown will lose. Thats why Warren kicked his ass despite Pundits saying she had no chance.

If Kerry becomes SoS, Deval Patrick or Joe Kennedy Jr will kick his ass.

    •  I understand he's a popular guy (0+ / 0-)

but why is he popular beyond that?

Okay.  On the one hand, I can see that Brown's personal popularity combined with an off-year cycle might win it for him.  People might say let's have Brown again if there's no chance of a Republican Senate.  People may be motivated by a little bit of backlash because Obama won again.

On the other hand, okay he beat Martha Coakley but she was an abysmal candidate.  And he lost to Elizabeth Warren.  If we run a strong Democrat (and probably a man) against him in 2014, I'm not convinced it'll be a cakewalk for him, especially because he's already been rejected by the voters once.

    •  Who would be the best though? (0+ / 0-)

      In your opinion.
