  •  Politically speaking, I totally agree. However, (15+ / 0-)

I'm related to several, and in many ways apart from their political allegiances they are good people. Some of them more so than others, some of them more thoughtful than others. And personally, in my family, the biggest jerk on a human level is a staunch Democrat. That happens, too.

But that's the only kind of interaction where I think it's OK to be conciliatory. In terms of policies, agendas, coalitions--time to kick the Republicans' asses more thoroughly yet. Absolutely, with no quarter and NO grand bargains.

I'm seeking to organize DKos members in SE Michigan--roughly, from the Ohio line at Lake Erie NE to Port Huron, W to Flint and back S from there. If you'd like to join our new group, Motor City Kossacks (working title), please Kosmail me.

    •  Well said... I too have friends who... (11+ / 0-)

...are staunchly conservative. I don't wish ill upon anyone, but I want their ideas to go away. The campaign hasn't really ended: We still have a LOT of low-information voters and negative-knowledge voters (Fox news watchers and Limbaugh et. al. listeners) to reach and at least expose them to the information which shows voting Republicant is diametrically opposed to their own best interests. That the anti-abortion crowd was sold a bill of goods is fine with me, though. I don't want them to stop voting republic.

And it needs to start at the State level in the legislatures and the Governor's offices.

    •  Maybe I'm extreme (13+ / 0-)

I have a brother that decided the repug party was for him many years ago. He and 5 siblings grew up in a very progressive environment. Now he's a full blown gun toting teabagger. I have no use for him or my cousins that are repug nor my wife's family who are ALL repug. They were ripping no my daughter after she had went and seen Obama at a rally right before the election. They were all in denial saying she had better enjoy the moment because after Tuesday she won't be smiling. Now they are wailing like the world is coming to the end. I have high school buddies that I don't associate with anymore.

      My point is I.DON"T.LIKE.REPUBLICANS.

I don't want to be around them, talk to them, or associate with them. If I have to interact with them as in day to day business I do it in a friendly cordial manner If they say something disparaging about Liberals or Democrats, Heaven help them.

I don't want to waste one second of my remaining life engaging these people. They are useless to me. I don't hate them, they are just nonentities..........
