AK, HI, CA, NV, MT, ID, AZ and maybe in the Northeast where initiatives are possible.  Basically wherever it's really blue and/or a strong libertarian streak is present.  Could be interesting to see the impact.

.......put it on the ballot and watch the 18-35 year olds vote in record #'s.   Kind of like what Rove did in 2004 with all the anti gay marriage props.....brought out the key demo's for the GOPers.

by the number of Republicans who believe - and have long believed - that pot should be legal. And taxed. And fully approved for medicinal use, that's a no-brainer in every state of the union.

Marijuana is the #1 cash crop in Alaska, Alabama, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Kentucky, Maine, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia, and among the top 3 cash crops in 30 states. Nobody considers Alaska, Alabama, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee or West Virginia to be 'blue' states.

      •  Actually, I wouldn't be shocked. (1+ / 0-)

All the Republicans I've known that weren't fungelicals (and even some that were) and were under 50 favored decriminalization or full legalization.  However, I do think in the South the fundie churches would overwhelm the youth vote for now, but there could be surprises.  The National Dems still need to "evolve" but that may happen faster now that the dam has cracked.
