  •  Hold Bob's hand or call him a racist? (12+ / 0-)

I am concerned that some have this idea we can or should somehow be all nice and pleasant to those dimwits, that we need to reach out and hold their hands, that we not 'celebrate our victory too much because it might be rude and turn some people off".

This reminds me of those people who think they can get away with having a chimpanzee for a pet.

    Sure they're cute.

Sure, you;re smarter than a chimp, but it will tear your face off in the blink of an eye for no discernable reason. It is more than a constant possibility, it is a high probability given that they have done so historically.

While I am certain to be attacked by a minority of kossacks and liberals who keep pet chimps, you're judgment is very questionable for you to keep a pet that cannot truly be domesticated because it WILL BITE YOU. It's probably stronger than you and not rational.

This goes for lions, tigers, bears, badgers, chimpanzees, elephants, and so forth.

Same deal with the wingnuts. No different, other than possibly being dumber and even more dangerous than chimps. Chimps don't stock weapons. Chimps don't listen to talk radio with some big fat hate-filled chimp encouraging the listening chimps to hurt non-chimps.

Why suck up to them?: we should dream of crushing them. I keep seeing rumors the GOP could fracture and fall apart.

O Fabulous Day! Dare we even dream of such a milestone?

We ARE winning at this point and we SHOULD be celebrating - for the time being - because we won a HUGE victory.

It's not just the re-election of Obama: it is the defeat of the Reagan-Bush Republican agenda. it's a smackdown of those asshole teabaggers.

we have to keep the momentum for 2014 but we have to understand what has been won and and what damage has been done to the enemy.

    yes....enemy.

Again, some seem dead-set on handing out cookies and hugs to these delusional nutbags and, really, they can just go knock themselves out. Have a good time. Go for it.

But in order to continue what has been accomplished understand that 'please' and 'thank you' aren't what made that happen nor will please and "may I have another one sir?" get us what we need, which is full control of the government.

repubs were saying and doing foul things and they will do it again. They haven't stopped, theywon't stop, not anytime soon and giving them respite will only embolden them.

Respite and the idea their ideas have any validity whatsoever  must be taken away from these insane clowns. We must take it with impunity. We do not need to not ask for it politely.

They preach an erroneous, easily refutable world view, they got their asses kicked hard because they run their lives on these delusions.

And had they won the election they wouldn't be sitting around discussing "olive branches and good will towards men".

They would be doubling down on their bullshit and we'd be having to listen to it and put up with it. it wouldbe horrid.

    Diarist points out:

This election represented the last desperate hope to retain that iron fist grip of racist American leadership.  The hope that in Obama's defeat, minorities would not get the even playing field or ladders of opportunity.  That through continued racist leadership, minorities would continue to be oppressed and barred from entering into and equally participating in their exclusive, whites only club called "America".
This is all those asswipes know and "change" will be very difficult because it will require NEW behaviors on their part and they aren't creative to begin with.

    But they LOST.

They CAN simply put up with OUR schadenfruede: we'd be enduring far more from them they they have experienced from us at this point, something that should be corrected over time. They MUST be reminded they lost. They must not be given a free pass with which to make up all sorts of bizarre shit, which is the closest thing they have to creativity.

There is NO need to hold these people's hands or give them a moment of respite.

As long as they remain steeped in racism, hate, and utter, abject, quantifiable stupidity, they will continue to lose. And they should.

And this won't happen if we don't keep calling them out and making every stupid thing they say cost them dearly.

And please and thank you and olive branches and cookies and hugs and  a Capella versions of "kumbayah" in the rain with candles won't accomplish that.

consistent with the campaign or a Grand Bargain? Because that will have an impact on 2014, especially if it portends everything else thereafter.

Purging predominantly minority voters and requiring them to present IDs to vote in the face of VIRTUALLY NON-EXISTENT VOTER FRAUD is RACISM! I hereby declare all consenting Republicans RACISTS until they stand up and object to these practices!

force them to EITHER flame out, which is what I believe they would do if we pressed them right, or to back down and finally admit defeat.

I don't think they can admit defeat. Not without caveats and CT.

So if we can get them to flame out...... I'd put my eggs in that basket.
