I went to see Billy Joel play at the Hartford Civic Center.
It's a terrible venue, a hockey stadium with high banks and awful acoustics. The band was set up on a stage that left a quarter of the seats behind the line. and it was a sold out house so all those "Obstructed View" seats were taken. And they weren't much cheaper than the good seats at equivalent altitudes in front.
At one point, Joel picked up one of his keyboards and carried it to the back of the stage and played a couple songs directly to the people behind the line, a very generous move and one that made me like and respect him far more than his music and career arc.
That sense that everyone matters, even the cheap seats, that's egalitarianism in practice, Sasha has it and because BO took her cue immediately, you can see that he gets it too.
Also the fact that he listens to his child while at the point of a HUGE moment in his career, speaks volumes about his character.
It's nice to know that the person you voted for, who won, is actually a good person.

If I ran this circus, things would be DIFFERENT!
