Four years ago David Sendaris wrote a column about the election and he was talking about the so-called undecided vote.  I don't remember it exactly, but basically what he said was that someone who was "undecided" was like thg guy on the airplane who is asked what he wants for dinner and wants to know his choices and the cabin attendant says, "Well, you can have chicken or you can have hot dog shit with glass bits sprinkled on it."  And the guy says, "Let me think about it for a minute."

I thought that was the best piece of political writing I ever read until I saw Kos' "Romney is a dick" piece. Kos hit it square on the head.  Because when all the analysis is finished, there wasn't any titanic shift of any particular group from red to blue.  A little here and a little there but simply put: he's a dick.

    •  Nearly half of the voters selected the dick™ (0+ / 0-)

Maybe it's just that I have a BS detector that samples reality.

I just don't understand how so many others are entirely blind to the bright glare of outrageous dickishness™.

    •  I am shocked that he received more than the votes (1+ / 0-)

of the 27% of voters who will admit to being Republicans.  A more unprepossessing candidate would be hard to find.  He had not personal warmth, was an odd religion, made his money by picking over the carcasses of companies and sending American jobs overseas, wouldn't show his tax returns because he was so busy hiding money abroad, insulted Americans and the rest of the world on several occasions, and lied from beginning to end.

I am delighted that Obama was able to win. However, it certainly doesn't instill much optimism in my breast to think that 47. 9 percent of the people of this country could still bring themselves to vote for this cardboard cutout.

      •  But he was white. And NotaDemocrat. (0+ / 0-)

        There's your answer.

LOTS of quietly closeted racism all over the place, and the right wing noise machine has been working overtime to let everyone know Obama specifically is the engine of satan.

And a lot of people still think that if someone says it from behind a desk on a news channel, or says it from the pulpit, it's authoritative, true, and factual.
