    and certainly has history behind it.  But I really think the schism may be forming now.  I think the establishment republicans realize that they cannot win the bigot base, and the bigot base cannot tolerate even the slightest divergence from orthodoxy.

    But as I said, mine is the weaker argument...and yours does have a strong ring of reality to it.

      looking for ways to keep the bigot base motivated without unintentionally motivating the targets of that bigotry to turnout against them.  The most likely means they'll start testing is how to play to Latino resentment of blacks.  Be on the lookout for that in the lead-up to 2014.
