I had a pregnancy scare at 15. Abortion was still illegal.

I went to the library to research best way to kill myself.

That was preferable to telling my parents and believe me I would have done it.

Since I'm still here I clearly was not actually pregnant.

A better answer is that a young person can manage a headache for a short time until parental consent is achieved. She can't put a pregnancy on hold until she's 18. As a former clinic volunteer I know most young women do consult their parents, and the younger they are the more likely to do so. But it cannot be mandated. Period.

As for late term, this is a red herring anti woman forces use. They pretend women sit around contemplating our navels for 8 1/2 months and then decide to have an abortion. Or we have 8 month abortions because we have a little headache or can't fit into our prom dress. It drips contempt. A better answer is that women are not stupid. In fact, anti abortion restrictions often force women to have later abortions than they wish, but left to themselves women don't wait around. If a woman has a late term abortion it is due to personal or medical emergency.
