which consisted of the Excelsior, Crocker-Amazon, Portola, and Visitacion Valley. Here's the map: https://upload.wikimedia.org/....

The current D4 and D7 were then called D10 and D11, and had Quentin Kopp and Ron Pelosi (Nancy's brother-in-law and Gavin Newsom's uncle) as supervisors.

Leno isn't going to be too old for Congress. 63 years old isn't considered old in CA politics. We just elected two 71-year-old freshmen to that body two weeks ago (Lowenthal and Negrete McLeod).

And you're right: politicians aren't too far removed from the general population mostly because you can't get too far. The city is just too small for anyone to hide in a smoke-filled backroom.

Why did I think he was from West of Twin Peaks? Ah well...

in the city that's still full of rich conservative white people?

If he could afford to live West of Twin Peaks, he won't have had to resign due to his salary.

west of Twin Peaks, the geography.

West of Twin Peaks is a pricey area. However I have friends who grew up in the Sunset in the 1960's and 1970's (I may not be a native but I actually know people who are). The Sunset District is definitely west of Twin Peaks but as an area, the Sunset was definitely NOT a wealthy neighborhood back then...blue collar, conservative and, to some extent, gang-infested.

I left out a preposition. It should be "in West of Twin Peaks."

It's strange how the Excelsior and the Sunset used to be similar neighborhoods. Now, it's just...different, to understate the point.
