    Well, I guess it is a good thing for this particular family that you aren't in charge of child protective services in my county.

    It would be a shame to see kids removed from their happy home because an ignorant person believed they were members of a cult.

      homes. Laws that require children to attend school through high school should be enforced. As far as I know, most states have such laws. BTW, all religions begin as cults, they just seem to lose that status with time and increases in congregation size. All remain cults, IMHO, if they are based on imaginary constructs rather than evidence and reason. Just my opinion, it doesn't have to match yours.

        Look up Yoder v. Wisconsin.  Amish communities are exempt from compulsory education past the 8th grade.

        I'm not religious and not interested in getting a debate about religion, but I think your definition of a what constitutes a cult would be a little subjective under any kind of academic standard.
