    Victimhood -> fact free propaganda -> crappy candidates -> unwarranted enthusiasm -> electoral defeat -> purity excuses -> more victimhood.

    Eventually, people get tired of losing and/or being the victim all of the time and they start to spin off.  Like a highly recommended diary yesterday posed: the question is, are they creating more victims faster than others are spinning off and dying?  The answer is most likely 'no'.  But the problem is that the those who are left are so obsessed by their own victimhood that they become dangerous zealots.  Beware the witch hunts.

      when it's "proof" to them that they are the virtuous minority?

      They would probably consider it as a matter of turning evil if they found themselves on the same side as a society where women have sex before marriage, gay people are treated as citizens, and non-Christian religions are practiced openly.
