  •  I want to see the Republican Party go (15+ / 0-)

the way of the whigs. Let them roll the Southern strategy one more election. Let them think they can use it on another electorate and stoke racial hatred again.  Let them think that while they only have black people in mind for economic disaster when they craft an economic policy that they think will hurt blacks more, they catch a lot of others in that net. Blacks may be on the bottom but crushing us only means that whoever is on the next level gets closer to the bottom. So brown people, yellow people, young people, old people, women--whatever the pecking order everyone can sense that if the principle is to hurt someone, then everyone is vunerable. Republicans rode that tiger and now it is very hard to dismount. For my taste I would rather defeat this party completely and let another party rise up in its place that is not into winning through substraction and dividing but by adding and multiplying.

    •  GOP dies and a new party emerges... LEFT of Dems! (11+ / 0-)

We need a major pull to the left.  The United States has fallen to far behind the rest of the developed world.

in common. I'd like to see them do more together.

The Green Party is responsible for questioning the results of the 2004 election. They are strong on election integrity and the environment. Their time may not have come yet but their platform is very positive. They are the only real competition for the Democratic Party. They just aren't well known by the general population.

The Republican Party is the Walking Dead Party. They just don't know it yet. They can still bite and do a lot of damage to this country. If it weren't for their money backers they would be gone already. What happens if the loose that?
          Think about that.

Now is the time to strike while things are fresh in people's minds. 2014 is not that long off. I hope Mr. Carter keeps digging in the records. People will connect the dots. They already are.

Green candidates took spoiler money from gop.

They are simple minded idiots.  Can never become a major party.

integrity in Ohio. I have worked with these folks since
2006 doing exit polling and observations.

I don't know what you are talking about when you say candidates took spoiler money in 2000 and 2004.
Are you aware that some candidates infiltrate a party to get money or even smear the reputation of the party?
I watched this happen in Ohio. I helped expose such a person pretending to be a "reformed Republican turned Democrat".

I was very angry when Kerry left the state without a challenge. The Green Party did challenge the Republicans
over the uncounted provisionals. It taught us all a lesson.

You could be right and I might be fooled but the folks I met seemed sincere and ethical.

Chances of Millennials (born after 1980) other than traditionalist Catholics or Evangelicals signing up with the GOP are pretty slim.

      •  Not necessarily; could be to the right = fascist (1+ / 0-)

If the Republican Party splits, one of its factions would be truly scary -- and could have significant draw from the big-money crowd. That happened in the 1930s (not a separate party), and could happen again.

Having a leftist party in the electoral system in the US has been a rare and fleeting event, and not particularly successful. (My parents voted for Wallace in 1948, as far as I know.)
