    to mark a shift with two men who aren't exactly the LGBT community's greatest heroes.

    I think it's sort of like with LBJ.

    LBJ didn't move the Civil Rights movement along. He was just the "legitimizing" public figure that cemented it, because he was white enough, old enough, Southern enough, and powerful enough to do it.

    I don't want to give Obama credit for the movement, but I do think there was a shift among the unwashed masses when Obama finally changed his mind.

    I think he designed it that way. He knew a lot of people (enough to create a new majority) wanted an "out" to change their mind, so he played at being one of them and holding their hand through the process.

    Like LBJ did for a lot hesitant people who needed a shove - in a way.
