I could never live in the deep south.  Even though Lincoln won the civil war, the deep south has ever since run its own passive aggressive continuance of the war.

They can't own slaves anymore, they can't get away with Jim Crow laws anymore.  But only because the federal government has sat on their head, something they resent to no end.

Sometimes I wonder.  Sometimes I think we should re-litigate the civil war---my profound apologies to Lincoln, my all time favorite president. Were he only here again to make the case for our union.

But frankly, I look below the Mason Dixon line, and I see everything I politically loathe.  And I don't see it changing anytime soon, or ever.  And I'm sick to puke of them being an anchor on the forward momentum of the rest of this country.

Just can't help but fantasize about the southern red states left up to their own ideology and governance. And, word has it that thousands in the south have signed petitions to secede from the union since Obama's re-election.

Good thing I'm not in charge, because I'd cut them lose in a nano second. I'd let them be who they want to be---the proud red states, including every nonsensical governing principle they've promoted.

And God forgive me, I'd enjoy watching them fail---because the truth is, NO STATES depend on the federal government like the southern red states.

    It's disgusting.

"A typical vice of American politics is the avoidance of saying anything real on real issues." Theodore Roosevelt.
