big in the past 4 years.

You don't abandon the playing field to those laying down astroturf.  Neither Obama nor his surrogates was out fighting for his policies, most notably Obamacare, so they lost the narrative and others got to set the terms of the discussion.

ravening hordes of the t party posing as grass roots groups surrogates and even the President means nothing. Then claimed the mantle of "The American People" and could only be countered by larger groups proclaiming themselves "The People of America." or something.

We came out in NM and fended them off by overwhelming their turnout.

But without a massive, experienced funding operation which collected funds from the affluent backers to be transmitted to selected organizers and leaders we were sitting around the country fuming but impotent.

We need to decide to become organized. To react to threats to the programs and policies we want. And we have to be wise enough to pick our threats and not go off into tangents. We cannot be focused on small differences, tactical plans or demand an ideological position.

I see here on dKos a level of hysteria about small details that don't conform to an utopian ideal that get in the way of forming broad coalitions for effective grass root pressuring.

We can't rely on top down opposition; not when they are fighting with what seems to be hordes of voters.

So I repeat: Where were you?

I'm asking you to believe. Not in my ability to bring about real change in Washington ... *I'm asking you to believe in yours.* Barack Obama

Your comment makes no sense. Even the President has recognized he and others at the top dropped the ball in promoting and defending policy.

Short of revolution, the roots need those with the power and the bully pulpit to do their job. At the turf level there is only so much we can do. BTW, are you suggesting that I,whom you don't know anything about, sat idly by?
