that's what i dislike, more intensely every year.  bah, humbug.  i hate the pressure, and the idea of buying more and more gifts so every child has the same.  i don't even want to go to the mall or buy unnecessary stuff or spend money on gift wrap or decorations.

on Christmas Eve, we're going to have an open house-type thing but no presents, and no traditional holiday fuss.  just spending time with family and friends is a gift.  my little ones, if they are perfect angels, will get a few Geoffrey dollars the day after when everything is on sale, but i'm not up to spending six weeks acting like the Cuban Martha Stewart to see all my exhausting, crafty magic demolished in minutes and forgotten by bedtime. ;)

Despite what we hear on TV and read in the "women's" magazines and see in the stores, we can work ourselves to the point of nervous exhaustion cooking, shopping, decorating, baking, wrapping, cleaning, shipping, and traveling and nobody cares. If anything, they'll wonder why you're in such a foul mood when you should be "festive". Screw that!

Those who do not understand history are condemned to repeat it... in summer school.
