  •  Funny how that worked out. (5+ / 0-)

    They took a short cut.

After 2008, they could have rethought their policies, positions and rebuilt their coalition, but the Teabagger thing happened and they just grabbed on to that instead.

They should have known it was a short-term fix rather than a long-term solution, but they apparently didn't care.

Politicians, like corporate CEOs, only care about the next report, I guess.

they are saying everybody should be more like texas.  i guess economically business can do good down here.  especially since it's a right to work state, labor is cheap and so are taxes.

the workers though...  they live in trailer homes and shop at wal-mart.

        •  Texas Number 1 in Uninsured (4+ / 0-)

Texas is also number 1 in the percentage of people that have no medical insurance.

Texas still leads the nation with 27 percent uninsured, representing 6 million people. The state has its work cut out for it, Love said.

"We have 1.2 million children with no medical coverage," Love said. "Thirty percent of women and 40 percent of pregnant women lack appropriate prenatal care.

So not only do Texas businesses not pay their employees, they don't insure them either.
