My grandfather drove for an old outfit, Central Wisconsin back in the late 50s and 60s, while my dad drove for CF out of Indy. His career was ended by a careless teenager who cut him off at a highway entrance ramp outside of St. Louis one winter's evening back in the late 70s. I have nothing but respect for the drivers and the crap they have to put up with. Heck, I still carry an emergency CB in my daily driver.

But... today's younger, less experiencd truckers seem to be a great deal more careless and in a hurry and less apt to pay attention to what's going on around them. Too many seem to drive their rigs like they drive their personal cars, tailgating and darting in and out of traffic - and that's what scares me the most. Like I mentioned in my OP, I commute almost 4 hours a day so I get to see a lot.
