  •  Hello? McCain was a "true American hero?" Why? (1+ / 0-)

    Because he was shot down?

He was raised to expect that his orders would be instantly obeyed, as were his fathers'. He has never been able to handle reality very well and he hasn't improved any with age. His maverick credentials were all due to the way he bribed the press with access, dirty jokes and probably some alcohol. Beware of mistaking the man for the myth.

orders. He was briefed that SAM missile sites were in that area and to avoid them. Instead, he disregarded his orders and was shot down, just as he was warned he might be.

He was shot down because he didn't obey the orders of his superiors. He has no one to blame for becoming a POW than himself.

As to his conduct as a POW, that's another story. But he wouldn't have been there in the first place if he had obeyed orders.

      •  I know. That is why I get so angry at hearing him (0+ / 0-)

called a hero. There were a lot of heroes in that misguided war. John McCain was not one of them.
