Are African Americans all struggling with the demons of segregation and slavery? Is Obama's worldview anti colonial Kenyan?

No. And we'd all recognize that kind of talk for what it is.

... and, I don't know, that Barney Frank character: Jewish and gay.

If we're dealing in stereotypes, he must be a traumatized gym bunny who's also a really snazzy (if thrifty) dresser.

Let's leave the 'biology is destiny' bullshit to the real wingnuts. They're better at it.

Fuck you, I put on pants yesterday.

    •  As an African-American, I would argue we are still (9+ / 0-)

dealing with the demons of segregation and slavery.  I think most african-americans would join me as well...  If you're hinting the diarists being a bigot, you are barking up the wrong tree.

But does that mean that every decision that African-Americans make is clouded and made irrational by that legacy?

        It's not.

Jews have been affected by our history, just like everyone else. And the Holocaust was among (if not the worst) the worst of history's crimes.

But it didn't make us all permanently lose our minds.

We all have our demons. Some of them multi-generational. It doesn't render our intellect incapable of making rational decisions. When those demons are 2,000 years of persecution, as with the Jews, or 400 years, as in the case of African Americans, and those demons are used by those with a different point of view to dismiss our decision making abilities, it is bigotry. Clear as day.

      •  we are, very much so. (1+ / 0-)

I don't think many African-Americans will admit it though.
