    I worry that once the snow turns into rain, Canada will find itself with a lot less water than it thought it has.  Short cool growing seasons plus slow melting of snow stretch the water supply pretty far.

    Look at a precipitation map of Canada (or Alaska for that matter).  Most of it is colored the same as the American Southwest: i.e. less than 20" per year.  That's the absolute minimum for growing grain crops and then only with dryland farming techniques.

    To those who say the New Deal didn't work: WWII was also government spending
