Sometimes the best way to take down a bully is to call their bluff.

      •  I am a native Texan who lives in Austin (8+ / 0-)

I moved here from Houston only this year. It was a long time dream of mine to live in Austin, not just because it is a beautiful and fun city, but also because it is "Blue". The rest of Texas is not like Austin, but the rest of Texas is becoming more and more diverse. For instance, before we left the Houston suburb, it had become more and more Asian. I don't know the makeup of the area by numbers, but it was changing as is most of this country, particularly the big cities. There are many smart, progressive people here in Austin. You would be impressed.

Sorry I wasn't more specific, I'm just commenting that I don't come to Daily Kos to read diaries suggesting Texas secede.  There are better battles.   I come to read and discuss turning our nation and Texas blue by electing more and better  progressives.  Thanks!

      •  Yeah well (3+ / 0-)

So does the obstructionism toward climate or energy policy by Texas senators and representatives and the rest of the country having to deal with textbooks that meet the whackadoodle Texas education standards.   I know t'ain't your doing, but good God from Vicksburg if the nonsense your costaters get up to dont chap my hide

        Yours,

Is this a joke?  Are you serious?  After decades of Texas oil men running roughshod over our economy?  After 8 years of George W. Bush and his wars, with all the Texas Republicans lined up behind him?

You know what also feels like bullying?  Texas "low tax", "right to work" state status stealing jobs from all over the nation while Texas's budget deficit and poverty grow.  Is Texas educating the children of all the workers to the new low-wage jobs in the state?  Or does Texas just expect the Blue States to pay for that?

Texas is being bullied.  Dear God.  Thanks for the laugh anyway.

believe it or not, Texas has actual Democrats who vote exactly like you and we even donate money to other non Texas races.  Shocking huh?  My objection is being thrown under the bus by kossacks by using broad brush strokes.
I don't believe you really missed my point, so I appreciate you reiterating issues we Texas democrats will continue to fight.
