I really believe we're witnessing the end of the GOP as a major party. The teabaggers and religious nuts will continue to purge the party. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Wall Street pump their cash into the Libertarians. If they do that, the Libertarians will then replace the GOP as a major party.

Libertarian. Wall Street has no interest in a party that wants smaller government and no wars. What I think will happen is corporations will stop giving money to the extreme social conservatives and work on propping up conservative Democrats and any moderate Republicans that are left. Libertarians will remain on the fringe while the Progressive movement continues to expand. Eventually the conservaDems will join the Republican party once the social conservatives and Evangelical fundamentalists are marginalized. This could take 2-4 election cycles at least though since right now there are still a lot of Republicans who inexplicably think the party is still not conservative enough.

Let's not let 2014 be anything like 2010. Republicans only win when we stay home!

    •  Why would they do that when the Dems are there? (0+ / 0-)

Why in the world would the Masters of the Universe start spending on Libertarians or some other party when the Democrats are and have been perfectly willing to toe a pro-business pro-corporate line and gladly accept any campaign contributions investment banks would like to offer?

I mean, sure, there are real differences between the D's and the R's these days, but it's the difference between the moderate pro-business party and the batshit insane flat earther party.
