    Republicans already get all of their electoral votes.  It's when purple states which just happen to have a Republican majority and Governor do that, that we're in trouble.  

    That being said, I think that will basically cause every blue state to pass the bill apportioning electoral votes to the winner of the popular vote, and then we only need a few of the swing states to do that and it's basically over for the electoral college.  

    When it becomes clear that the deck is stacked so a Democrat cannot win, I think a lot of swing states would sign on, as they would already be made basically irrelevant.

      Have Republican controlled state legislatures and Governors.

      Therein lies the problem. This change would shift them red.
