  •  I think this framing is regrettable (4+ / 0-)

First Fox News called Obama's defense of her paternalistic

But, there is no damsel in distress and Obama's paternalistic bravado in defense of a top administration official is going to come back to haunt him.

and then to fire back from the other side that criticizing her is sexist. I am sure if we can go back in history we can find someone else that was called 'unqualified'. This sordid episode was about so much more, and calling sexism really diminishes what was really there. It's petty.

    •  i won't click on your link to fox (7+ / 0-)

will take your word for it :)

Since when is defending your appointments paternalistic?  sigh.

I still think this is both sexist and racially motivated - but that is also coupled with Republican attempts to divert attention from their failure to win the election, and is also a salvo signalling their upcoming (and ongoing) recalcitrance to work with the POTUS.

referred to Fox news saying it but I can't find that link now. It's some female columnist at Fox news who I've never heard of, so more like an opinion piece than 'news'.

I think it goes way beyond beyond sexist and racially motivated. HOnestly I wouldn't even be surprised if they hadn't known Rice's race when they started in. I was never sure - not that I was really paying attention to that. HOnestly I think she transcends that which makes me sorry to see it being dragged back down to that. I don't think there is any evidence to suggest it is thusly motivated
