People like Adelson stood to gain billions more than the billions they own if Romney were elected. For Shelly, it's worth the risk. $100m, in the medium term, isn't much of a loss for him. Even if he thinks he pissed it away, he's lost no power. Which is where he wants to be when the next opportunity approaches.

That is the new reality those who lust for money refuse to accept. Money = power, but only when it is used as a tool to deprive others of what keeps them alive.

Adelson is a businessman.  He got rich because he didn't piss away his money, his investments.  He understands ROI (return on investment) and wants to get the maximum return so he can be even more rich.  People that rich tend to be greedy.

I have to think that the money he pissed away, while  small fraction of his wealth, has to be eating away at him that he got ZERO ROI.  More reasonable people, less wealthy people, may think like you and me "Hey, it's only 2.5% of my net wealth..."

Anyway I HOPE it's eating away at him.
