  •  How do I feel about our local library? Well just (16+ / 0-)

yesterday I was saying how the less you have the more you need your local library.
We are warm (I've let people just sleep in our big chairs) and dry and you can get free or reduced price lunch downstairs most days and supper twice a month in the kitchen/community room that's technically ours.
And many times I have talked about how job-seekers need us for the internet and newspapers. At the other end of the spectrum, our library is host, for several hours several times a week, to a large group of people with various disabilities, and their helper staff, who are out on "day-care" with nowhere else to go. Resources are limited in this rural area, but the library is one place they can go that doesn't involve eating or shopping. I think people would be very surprised at how many ways we provide community support, but I'll stop now, hoping that everyone will check out their own local library and see what kind of things go on. We have an E-book library program so you don't have to buy from Amazon, even though we are small we are 21st century.
