Libraries and books are the foundations for learning, despite the availability of the internet. A library's codified information database is easy to search, and there is merit in perusing an actual book for information.

Reading online can be a rich experience, but randomly thumbing through a text can lead to knowledge and understanding that the internet can't provide. I can bookmark several references in a text, which is easier than keeping tabs open in a computer. Then I can easily access footnotes and references in a way that is far more difficult online. I find I use more references and expand my research when using a book as an original source, as opposed to research I do online.

Books and libraries remain the gold standard in education. Shutting down funding for a library at a major university would devalue the entire educational experience. The same holds true at the state level.
