    Along with the "effective pay cut" I think the CEOs are also standing on message with their posturing and threats to cut or shut, because the meme has become that it's the big, bad Dems that are ruining their businesses by shoving the big, bad healthcare mandate down their throats, and they can no longer afford to stay in business once they are "forced" to pay for employee healthcare, along with all the other big, bad costs the "gubmint" forces on them.

    Of course, we know that even when filing for bankruptcy they've also been giving 300% salary boosts to themselves (see: Twinkies, Hostess), so it seems to me that their motives for the cut or shut tactics is for political points, not monetary ones.

    IOW, this isn't going to break their bottom lines, just might cut into their profits for a while, so they might as well play it for all its' worth and keep appeasing the Republican base.
