I heard you the first 500 times.

I support Medicare and Medicaid as much as anyone, more than many.

    I'm 51.

I've worked at a private medical clinic serving mostly Medicare and Medicaid dual-eligible patients with no money and no resources.

I've been treated at a hospital for emergency cardiac care, without any healthcare insurance.

I am working poor since the age of 17.

My home, which I've been clinging to by the skin of my teeth for nearly a decade now, is my retirement fund.

Your continued bleating about "not caring about making Social Security better" has now gotten on my one last nerve.

Are you insane? Do you think opening up a discussion about "making SS better" belongs on the menu when the opening Dish about to be recommended by the (still) House Majority Republicans (WHO WRITE EVERY BUDGET BILL, btw) is Austerity Stew?

Do you have an iota of an idea of how legislation is created, and pushed through to the President's desk? Did you watch it take OVER TWO YEARS to get the Don't Ask Don't Tell program erased in the US Armed Forces?  And that didn't cost any money.

Yes, I guess I may be overreacting here, but you are obviously oblivious to reality when it comes to "what I want from my government" and how to go about getting it.

the Honorable Allen West, where a big banner reads:

      Security For Floridas Seniors

Now if akmk still wants to open up the SS/Medicare can of worms with people like Allen West hanging around s/he needs a strong drink and dose of political reality.
(I know Wild West will be gone shortly (thk yew FSM), but his ilk still run the US House for the next two years plus, and there are many Democrats who are either Blue Dogs or quite weak on such issues. Perhaps good old Harry Reid can backstop this whole issue, with or without Obama, but I sure don't want to risk it.)

      •  Allen West is not going to achieve anything at (0+ / 0-)

        this point.

The discussion needs to begin and people need to make their voices heard to support.

Pointing in the right direction matters.
