That by the third days afternoon when exhaustion taken its toll, comments like the 47%, legitimate rape, macaca, and "in what respect Charlie?", would be flying from their mouths on an hourly basis. Everyone would get to hear how they really think after they had already gone through the scripted talking points ten times, and then finally decided "Ah h3ll, I'll just ad lib it." The next elections adds would need no scripting, just editing.
Let them dig their own graves. They are eager to do it.

    •  ooh, there is that! (3+ / 0-)

Sleep deprivation loosens up the mouth, so after even one night of reading Ayn Rand into the Congressional Record, they will start babbling.

Online betting parlors will start taking bets on who will be the first to use the N-word and how long it'll take before it happens.

And yes, they will dig their own graves.

      We got the future back.

    •  Why would they be exhausted? (1+ / 0-)

That only happens if a small number of senators are obstructing.

36 minutes a day. That's how long a senator has to talk if there are 40 working together. You show up for your time slot, read for half an hour, and then go golfing.

That's why the talking filibuster idea is pure fail. (And that it doesn't need reform to implement, the majority leader is the one choosing to move on to other business right now.)

Senators would have to be in the chamber to keep the filibuster going.  The exhaustion wouldn't be from speaking, it would be from sitting around and not being able to go to meals, the washroom, or their offices.

      •  The proposal is minimum 40 on floor at any time (2+ / 0-)

They cannot just leave and come back unless they get someone else on their side to sit in for them.

      •  It would easily work (0+ / 0-)

Because they have other stuff they have to do.....

....back home in their districts.  If they have to hold the floor all weekend, that means the big fundraiser/fellatio fest with the rich donors doesn't happen.   There are VERY few GOP senators that can drive back and forth in an hour or two.  Most would be flying back over 3+hrs.

There's a reason these guys never want to work weekends, or even Fridays.  Forcing them to hold the floor over a weekend while there are dozens of Dem senators within a few hrs drive of the floor is GREAT strategy.
