and I voted for him...all the while with a clothes-pin on my nose to protect myself from the stench of my own hypocrisy in so doing.  But, of the offerings, he was the least distasteful.

The NC Democratic Party has, in my opinion, long been uninterested in finding and promoting "better" democrats and McIntyre is the poster child for their lack of diligence.

McIntyre voted against stem-cell research expansion and many other progressive ideas.  His "faith" guides many of his votes...so he says...and yet he has also done some good thigs.  He's also a shameless provider of our tax-dollars towards local projects that provide him with photo ops and things to crow about...whether those projects are/were truly needed or not.

His compatriot, Larry Kissell...blue dog...got bounced out.  Kissell was a high school teacher that promised much and delivered little.  The R that took his seat is likely much worse, but Kissell lost, I think, because he alienated his base.
I'm anxious to see how well he integrates back into the work force at a salary 1/4th of what he got at the Congressional trough....if he can find work.

The longer I live, the clearer I perceive how unmatchable a compliment one pays when he says of a man "he has the courage to utter his convictions." Mark Twain
