  •  Well, to admit that Susan Rice did nothing wrong (3+ / 0-)

would naturally lead to somebody pointing out that she did exactly what Colin Powell did a few years ago. And that might be a problem for the Republicans.

Except that a lot of them now consider him to be a Democrat.

But it would also be an implicit indictment of George W. Bush, and I suppose the even though he has been banished into the outer darkness, Republicans can't quite stand to go that far.

Or maybe now that that dog is sleeping, they prefer to let him lie. Or keep lying.

    Whatever. It's really too confusing.

      Gen Powell's wiki:

Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson, later characterized Cheney's view of Powell's mission as to "go up there and sell it, and we'll have moved forward a peg or two. Fall on your damn sword and kill yourself, and I'll be happy, too.

Wilkerson said that he inadvertently participated in a hoax on the American people in preparing Powell's erroneous testimony before the United Nations Security Council

      •  Just in the sense that he (0+ / 0-)

presented what he was told to present.

Or did he make up his own script, or did Rice, or what?

I didn't point out anything about Powell's actions, by the way, just remarked that somebody probably would. But I have heard it said that he was only responsible for presenting stuff, not for generating it. Which is what somebody (The President, if I recall correctly) said that Rice did.
