does it, you're right, no impact. But if you give the rest of the gym members the idea that maybe it would be nice if the employees could spend Thanksgiving with their families, and they stayed home too, the gym might close for the day.

That's collective action. It has to start somewhere and I'm suggesting that it could start with you.

BTW, how many people go to the gym on Thanksgiving? Just curious.

    •  Right on! Tell your friends, make it collective. (4+ / 0-)

You can call that "collective bargaining" if you like, to drive home the point.

And instead of going to the gym, go out walking or running or riding a bicycle or just doing PT exercises in the front yard.  This is also good for meeting up with neighbors.

Americans must get in their big SUVs and drive around looking for THE parking spot at their "local" strip mall to do some Patriotic Door Bustin.  It's their Gawd Givin right to shit on the low income workers.  After all, serves those cashiers and clerks rights for not havin' a "reallll job".

        :)

Take a walk. Go for a hike.  Stay home and play board games with your kids.  You remember those right?  I meant the games not the kids. :)

Best Thanksgiving was on Guam.  We had gone through a typhoon and there wasn't any power.

    •  The gym I go to is packed. (0+ / 0-)

      Me staying home accomplishes nothing.

      •  Well, if you don't talk (1+ / 0-)

to any of those other folks, you're right. You've accomplished nothing, whether you go or stay home.

        •  I'm sorry, are you saying I (0+ / 0-)

should walk around my gym and talk to people as they're working out to tell them to not come in on holidays in order to fight for workers rights? Just want to make sure that is what you're suggesting.

          •  You could do it (1+ / 0-)

            •  Oh brother. I don't know if you are (0+ / 0-)

serious or not. If so, my view is that the idea is rather kooky. That is just obnoxious, to bother people exercising with this ridiculous idea.
