UPDATE: Walmart workers at the store in Federal Way, Wash., walked off the job on Thursday, Nov. 15, to hold a rally. Video of the event can be found at: For more information on the Walmart workers’ struggle (and on what the world’s largest private-sector retailer is up to), visit

Walmart workers across the nation are walking out on strike to protest low wages, lack of health care and no respect for workers’ rights. Recent walkouts in many cities have been organized by Walmart workers who have joined OUR (Organization United for Respect). On Black Friday, Nov. 23, Walmart workers in many cities will walk out on strike to protest bad working conditions and a lack of respect for basic workers’ rights.

Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year. While Walmart workers in Oregon and S.W. Washington were reportedly not planning to go on strike Nov. 23, Walmart workers and members of the community still need to support the struggle of workers across the country. Let Walmart know Portland and S.W. Washington stand for fairness, a living wage and respect for workers’ rights!

This event will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 23, at Walmart, 4200 S.E. 82nd Ave., Portland (between Powell and Holgate on 82nd) in front of the Walmart sign. For more information, call 503-701-2636.
