I live around sixty miles north of Kingman, Arizona. Have for pushing forty years. I remember when Walmart first opened in Kingman ... after much negotiating and many concessions from the city they deigned to open a store. Prices were low ... granted ... lower than, for example, the local feed and grain store where we got feed for our chickens.  Odd, that their prices were generally lower than any of the locally owned retail stores, but only the locally offered merchandise.

Yep, their prices were lower, by a dollar or so on a $10.00 bag of grain ... until Kingman Feed and Grain went bankrupt, until the downtown shops closed, ah, but then ...

My wife and , while living on a fixed income will not cross the threshold of a Walmart.  We haven't for twenty five years.
We won't be doing so any time soon.
Some of our friends claim we're crazy, but what the hell ... they vote Republican.

My wife and I stand in solidarity with the protesting Walmart employees on Thursday/Friday.
