  •  Palin's first Alaska town went for Obama! (4+ / 0-)

When Sarah's family first moved to Alaska (she was 4), they lived in Skagway where her father was a teacher.

Skagway election results were 233 for Obama, 124 for Romney. Skagway has a lot of Mormons & Catholics ... they couldn't have all voted for Romney.

Obama won in '08 as well. The front page newspaper article covering Sarah's VP nomination and Skagway heritage was next to an article about a Chicago native Obama campaign worker in town for an OFA meeting.

Skagway got screwed big time with the redistricting. They were separated from Haines and Sitka ... who all have similar interests and needs ... and are now lumped in with a big chunk of Juneau.

I lived in Skagway from '96 to '05.
